It got orange hot smoked and smelled like it was burning, before I could turn it off or unplug it, it shut off. The whole event lasted about 8 seconds. I think there is supposed to be some kind of fan or motor to blow the heat out. It did not do this so it burned itself out I think. Not smelled awful. Thanks for the hassle free return. I cannot recommend this product. I tried to buy the cheapest heat gun I could find because I only needed it for a few minutes of work. Well unless it is only a few seconds of work, I would spend a little more and get something made of a little better quality. This think looks and feels cheap, and is probably dangerous too. Have used it a few times trying to solder the cold soldered shrink wrap tube connector for electrical wire connections. It worked well for that. It also works well to remelt dried off adhesive for wire/cable plastic tubes but be careful because it melted the plastic conduit as well. Very good and strong heat gun.
