From the manufacturer Cleaning & Cooking Tips! For cleaning the inner lid: The inner lid gasket and silicone can be removed by gently pulling on the center silicone tab. (see above photo) After the aluminum cover is removed, it will be much easier to put the silicone seal back around it. Rinse the rice until the water runs somewhat clear (to remove the starch) Insert the inner pot with rice and water before plugging into wall outlet Do not overfill the inner pot, it will cause it to overflow and damage the cooker (suggest MAX 3/4 full) Align the top lid in correct position for latches to close properly Avoid using metal utensils to prevent scratching the inner pot. Plastic rice spatula is included.
